News Highlights
- Beware of Local Check Scams. Homeowners in River Oaks Plantation were recently victimized by scam artists asking for donations in check form for a local church. The latest e-Bulletin alert sent to JCP residents detailed the operation and described what you can do to prevent becoming a victim of such a crime. If you did not receive this e-Bulletin, you can read it by logging in to the members area of this website and clicking on the Members Corner menu. From the drop-down menu, select e-Bulletins and click on the Safety Committee Reports and Tips link. Be sure you don’t miss important e-Bulletins in the future. Read about requesting a JCP POA login account and signing up for e-Bulletins in the Frequently Asked Questions page.
- Award for County Small Business Assistance Program. On July 20, the University of North Florida’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) presented the regional Outstanding Resource Partner award to the St. Johns County Commission. The ceremony was in recognition of their support and partnership in the creation of a Small Business Development Center at the County Complex on Lewis Speedway. Read more (Adobe Reader Required).
- Voter Registration for Primary Election Ends 7/26. The Primary takes place in August. If you have not registered with the state, you must do so before voting. If you have moved, or changed your name or party affiliation since you last registered with the state, you must re-register. Voter Registration information is at the Supervisor of Elections website. Get more information on Public Elections at our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.
- Roadwork along Race Track Road. Milling and road resurfacing will necessitate periodic lane closures on Race Track Road between State Road 13 and St. Johns Parkway. Several intersections will have safety improvements installed. Plan your drive on Race Track Road accordingly. Additional construction is occuring along Race Track Road in the eastern part of JCP. See the news paragraph about Construction Along Race Tack Road below.
- Construction in JCP. Comcast is replacing damaged cable in the right of way along Larkspur Loop. Work will take six months.
- A Six-Second Garage Break-in. An open garage door is an invitation to steal. But even a closed garage door can be quickly thwarted using simple household items. Sheriff David Shoar’s “Crime Patrol” tip in the June 28th Historic City News features a You-Tube video describing the break-in technique and offers advice on how to easily protect yourself from a “Six Second Garage Break-in.” If you have a question about crime prevention, contact the St Johns County Crime Prevention unit at 810-3623 or see the County Sheriff’s website. MAY Management can also help you with safety concerns at 880-8796 or rcurran@mayresort.com. JCP members with a login can check the Member’s Corner section in the members’ area of our POA website for additional Safety Committee announcements and tips.
- Changes to County Security Alarm Laws. In the past, if you purchased a home or business security alarm system, you were required to register it with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (SJSO). A new law passed in April, Ordinance 2010-15, now imposes penalties for failure to register. To avoid them you must register by September 30. Further, it requires all alarm system owners to re-register annually, to display their current alarm permit in a prominent place onsite, and to maintain their system in working condition. If an alarm system is transferred to a new owner, that owner should register the alarm under his/her name within 10 days of transfer and re-register annually thereafter. The ordinance provides for registration fees, discounts for owners with no false alarms, and fines for non-compliance. It also imposes a schedule of fines and penalties for multiple false alarms during a year. Better management of our security systems and fewer false alarms means better use of our law enforcement officers’ time. How the process works...
- Construction along east Race Track Road. JEA is installing a new electric substation at 4513 Race Track Road, just east of St. Johns Parkway. The Bartram Electric Substation is scheduled for completion in December of 2010. It should improve electric system reliability in our fast-growing portion of the County. During construction you will experience periodic traffic delays. The project has several phases...

Website Highlights
Here's a summary of what you'll find in the public area of the site and some tips for making your visit more enjoyable and accessible:
- The Login area is only for members of our Property Owners Association and residential renters; we invite these persons to Request a Login if they do not already have one. You can use your login account to request services, to read Board of Directors reports and announcements, and to review your account, among other features.
- Our Community Corner describes Announcements and Calendar events for the general public.
- If you are considering making The Plantation your next home, take our Plantation Tour.
- The Contact section contains emails and addresses of our property management company, government agencies and services, local utility providers, and emergency management and information agencies.
- Visit our About section in the menu above to read our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and to learn how to maximize your use of this site. If the tips below don't answer all your questions, be sure to visit the FAQ page.
TIP: If you have trouble clicking on the menu links, use the Site Index link at the bottom of every page. The Site Index has a link to each page on this website (it's like a Table of Contents in a book). So, if you and your mouse have trouble using the drop-down menu items, the Site Index can provide you with an easier way to navigate through this website. If you want to see what the Site Index looks like now, just remember that it contains a link to "Home" (this page) and you can click on it to return here. The Site Index link is at the bottom of every page and looks like this: Site Index.
TIP: Get back to the top of a long page quickly. Some of the pages in this site contain a lot of information, and can be rather long. If you are at the bottom of one of these pages, you can easily "jump" back to the top of the page by clicking on the picture of the JCP roof top (called a cupola) in the footer section. The picture at the bottom of the page acts as a link; when you click on it, you'll jump to the page top. So don't forget to click on the "roof top" picture to get to the "page top"! Also, on long pages you'll see a "Return to Top" link at the end of sections. It does just what it says.
TIP: How our links work. When a link on this site takes you to another website, that page will open in a new window. When you are through browsing that site, just close the window, and you'll see your original "departure" page - right where you left off! Try it now. Click on the link here for the JCP CDD website at jcpcdd.org, then close the window. You'll be right back here. Links that open a page within this website (such as the Community Corner link) will open in the same window, meaning you will leave the page whose link you clicked on.
TIP: If the text on this page is too small, read about enlarging text in the FAQ Section.
